A Vegan Diet: Hugely Helpful Against Cancer

Disease is not hereditary! Change your food! Change your genes!

A study analysis performed in 2012 by the Department of Food Science and Nutrition, Zhejiang University deduced that Vegetarians have much lower cancer rates than meat-eaters.

But does this mean that vegans have an even lower cancer rate? Does this mean veganism is the healthiest diet?

A new study conducted in Loma Linda University by the National Cancer Institute in 2013 concluded that vegans, in fact, do have lower cancer rates than both meat-eaters and Vegetarians.

Why? This is a rather impressive piece of information. A series of tests were performed by Dr. Greger in 2012 on people put on different diets. A blood sample was taken from each to be mixed with some cancer cells in order to see who can kill more cancer cells. It was found that the women who were put on a plant-based diet for only two weeks were able to prevent the growth of three different types of breast cancer.

The blood of these women was also able to stop breast cancer from progressing all thanks to only two weeks of following a well balanced plant-based diet.

Moreover, some studies were performed to compare IGF-1 levels between meat-eaters, vegetarians and vegans. The researchers concluded that people must be inclined to eliminate animal products from their diets (Greger, 2012). A study performed on vegans in America confirmed that vegans have lower rates of obesity, diabetes, hypertension and most importantly, cancer (Greger, 2012).

Upon reviewing the study performed by Dr’s. Dean Ornish and Noble Prize winner Elizabeth Blackburn, we can see that upon adopting a vegan diet, over 500 genes were altered after only three months of going vegan. Luckily, those genes were the ones responsible for preventing diseases such as breast cancer, heart disease, prostate cancer and other diseases. All of the genes responsible for the previously mentioned diseases were turned off upon adopting a vegan diet.

All of this goes to show that we are not slaves of our genes and that any disease can be slowed down, stopped and even reversed simply by following a healthy, well balanced vegan diet.
